Clean image metadata. Keep every pixel.
See and remove the hidden data in your photos (location, device serial numbers, AI provenance and prompts) right in your browser. The image data is copied byte for byte, and nothing is ever uploaded.
- Files never leave your device
- Verified lossless
- Works offline

What your photos say about you
A photo file is a container. Next to the picture sit blocks of metadata that apps add without asking, and that travel with the file when you send it by email, chat or a cloud link.
Where you were
Phones record GPS coordinates accurate to a few metres, often with the altitude and the direction you faced.
What you shoot with
Camera and lens make and model and, on many cameras, a serial number that links every photo to one device.
When, to the second
The date and time the photo was taken, edited and saved, with the time zone.
How it was made
Content Credentials, AI source labels, and the full prompt, seed and settings in AI-generated PNGs.
How it was edited
The apps that touched the file, an edit history, and sometimes the owner name set in the camera or software.
A picture inside the picture
Embedded thumbnails that may not match the edited picture, and motion-photo video stored after the image.
The image stays whole. The extra blocks come off.
Most metadata removers draw your photo onto a canvas and save it again, which re-compresses it and can drop its colour profile. Exifo reads the file's structure instead and copies the blocks you keep, byte for byte.
Drop your images
JPEG, PNG and WebP, up to 50 at a time. Or paste from the clipboard.
See every block
EXIF, GPS, XMP, IPTC, Content Credentials and AI prompts, with sizes, before anything is removed.
Download a verified copy
Exifo checks a SHA-256 hash of the image data against the original before you can download.
Eleven tools. No uploads.
Metadata tools never touch the image data. Image tools re-encode by design, and say so. All of them run on your device.
METADATA TOOLS
Remove EXIF, GPS, XMP, IPTC and AI data. The image data is copied byte for byte.
Open CleanEvery field and every block, with location, search and export.
Open InspectContent Credentials, AI source types and generator prompts, with signature checks.
Open CheckWrite creator, copyright, title and keywords without re-encoding.
Open EditDiff two files and prove whether their image data is identical.
Open CompareIMAGE TOOLS
MozJPEG, WebP, AVIF and OxiPNG, with a “make it under X KB” mode.
Open CompressHEIC to JPG and more: JPEG, PNG, WebP and AVIF out.
Open ConvertExact sizes, social presets, free crop and lossless JPEG rotation.
Open Resize and cropText or logo, placed or tiled, applied to a whole batch.
Open WatermarkName files by date taken, camera and counter. Contents untouched.
Open RenameReorder pages and export one PDF. JPEGs embedded as they are.

How Exifo differs from a typical online metadata remover.
| Feature | Exifo | Typical online remover |
|---|---|---|
| Your files are uploaded to a server | Never | Yes |
| The image is decoded and saved again | No, bytes are copied | Often |
| Colour profile kept | Always | Often lost |
| Proof the image is unchanged | SHA-256 check on every file | Rarely |
| Shows what was found first | Every block and field | Sometimes |
| Content Credentials and AI prompts | Read, verified and removable | Rarely |
| Works offline | Yes, after the first visit | No |
See what an image says about its origin
Check reads Content Credentials (C2PA), the IPTC labels that mark AI-generated and AI-edited media, and the prompts Stable Diffusion and ComfyUI save in PNG files. Signed credentials are verified in your browser with the official C2PA SDK.
Missing metadata does not mean an image is real, and removing labels can break platform rules or the law. Exifo is a privacy tool, not a way to hide that an image was AI-generated.

Questions
All questionsAre my photos uploaded to a server?
No. Every tool runs in your browser. Files are read, cleaned, converted and compressed on your device, and there is no server-side code that could receive them.
Does removing metadata reduce image quality?
No. Exifo copies the compressed image data byte for byte and leaves the metadata blocks out. Nothing is decoded or re-saved, so there is no quality loss and the colour profile is kept.
Which file formats can be cleaned?
JPEG, PNG and WebP, including animated PNG and animated WebP. HEIC and AVIF cannot be cleaned losslessly yet; convert them to JPEG first.
Can Exifo tell whether an image is AI-generated?
It can tell you what the file says about itself: Content Credentials, the IPTC digital source type and generator prompts. That is evidence, not proof. Missing metadata does not mean an image is real, and only a valid signed manifest is strong evidence.
Does removing metadata remove AI watermarks?
No. Invisible watermarks such as SynthID are part of the pixels, not metadata, and visible watermarks are part of the picture. Exifo removes metadata only, and a cleaned image is not undetectable.
Is Exifo free?
Yes. All the tools are free to use and need no account. Exifo adds nothing to your images.
Share the photo, not the metadata.
Free, private and lossless. Works offline after the first visit.
